The Preston Hollow literacy nonprofit raised $368,205 on North Texas Giving Day to help more children read on grade level by third grade.

Catch Up & Read, a Preston Hollow-area nonprofit that works to help children in underserved neighborhoods read at grade level by the end of third grade, raised $368,205 on this year's North Texas Giving Day. The group had set a goal of $300,000, so it finished $68,205 above target. It was one of 17 nonprofits in the Dallas area to beat its fundraising goal, out of the hundreds that took part.

The online giving drive is run by Communities Foundation of Texas. This year's campaign ran from August 27 through September 17, and the Catch Up & Read profile on the giving site said gifts would be matched dollar for dollar, up to a combined $150,000, by the College Football Playoff Foundation, the Cotton Bowl Foundation and an anonymous donor.

Carol Goglia, the group's president and CEO, is a Preston Hollow resident who leads the organization. She said the team was thrilled to have set a high goal and to exceed it. "The extra dollars mean that we can be in schools with our unique teacher-led model," she said.

Catch Up & Read works with schools including Dallas ISD, Richardson ISD, DeSoto ISD, Mesquite ISD and Uplift Education. During the 2025-26 school year, it served 1,111 students at 26 elementary schools and supported 173 teachers. Principals at participating schools choose seven teachers to lead each campus cohort, and those teachers receive professional development twice a week while working with small groups of students. Students receive about 50 hours of targeted reading instruction, offered in English and Spanish.
