Irving Outlaws to host national wheelchair football tournament in Dallas Nov. 1-2
North Texas gets to host national wheelchair football this fall. The USA Wheelchair Football League, a Move United program, will bring eight teams to Dallas on Nov. 1-2 for the third national tournament of its 2026 season. Games will be played in Hall C of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.
The home team is the Irving Outlaws Wheelchair Football Team, a program of RISE Adaptive Sports. The Outlaws won the league championship in 2023. They'll face the Birmingham Hammers, GLASA Chicago Bears, Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and WWAR Generals.
In the tournament announcement, the Outlaws' head coach said, "Hosting a tournament here gives us a chance to share the sport with our community and show our visitors some Texas hospitality."
Move United started the league in 2020 with support from the NFL-Bob Woodruff Foundation Salute to Service Partnership. It's open to adults with a permanent physical disability that limits their legs enough that they can't run, pivot, block or tackle the way the running game requires. The co-ed game moves fast and is played on a hard court with both contact and touch tackles. RISE Adaptive Sports says the Outlaws are a competitive traveling team, so athletes have to practice and try out to make the roster.
Dallas has hosted the league before. In early 2024, the league's championship game was played at Fair Park, and the Dallas team beat the Kansas City Chiefs 27-14, The Dallas Express reported. The Dallas Convention Center lists the November tournament as on sale now. Move United's website has tournament details and updates.
