Trimble Tech sweethearts reconnect after 42 years and marry in Fort Worth
Patricia Govea Garcia and Michael Gonzales dated as freshmen at Trimble Tech in 1982, lost touch, found each other on Facebook in 2024 and married on Oct. 9.

Patricia Govea Garcia and Michael Gonzales started dating in 1982, when they were freshmen at Trimble Tech High School in Fort Worth. They went on movie dates and lunch dates. Then Patricia went back to her home school, Diamond Hill, and the two lost touch.

Patricia told the story in a message to NBC 5. "Little did we know that our story wasn't over yet," she wrote.

In 2024, 42 years after those first dates, the two found each other again. "Michael found me on Facebook!" Patricia wrote. Once they started talking, they learned their paths had crossed over the years without either of them knowing it. Michael had worked at the school Patricia's children attended, and they knew some of the same people. Still, they never once ran into each other.

They also found that the feelings from freshman year hadn't gone away. On Oct. 9, the former Trimble Tech classmates got married.

Patricia summed up their story in a line from her message: "Our story began at Tech, but our forever begins today!"
